Is a Professional LinkedIn Headshot Worth It? A Brussels Price Reality Check

By Dmytro Derkach · Brussels-based commercial photographer

Search for LinkedIn headshot pricing and the range looks absurd. One photographer quotes 150€. Another quotes 1,500€ for what appears to be the same service: one person, one photo, one profile update. The gap makes the whole category feel like a scam waiting to happen.

It is not a scam. It is two different products wearing the same name.

What 150-250€ actually buys

At this level, expect a focused session: 30 to 45 minutes, a studio or simple office backdrop, natural light or a basic setup, and a small number of retouched final images, usually one to three. This is the right tier for someone updating a LinkedIn photo that is five years, one haircut, and ten kilos out of date. It solves the actual problem: a current, professional, non-embarrassing photo.

What higher-tier pricing includes

Above 500€, the session usually expands to include multiple looks or outfit changes, a longer shoot with more variety in poses and expressions, a broader final selection to choose from, and sometimes styling or wardrobe consultation beforehand. This tier makes sense for executives who need headshots across multiple contexts, such as press, speaking engagements, and a personal website, from a single session, not just a LinkedIn thumbnail.

Is it worth it at all?

The honest answer depends on what the photo needs to do. A LinkedIn profile photo gets viewed for roughly two seconds before someone decides whether to read further or scroll past. A blurry selfie, an old vacation crop, or a photo where a colleague has been cropped out of the frame all signal the same thing to a stranger: this person has not thought about how they present themselves professionally. That signal costs nothing to send and nothing to fix, which is exactly why it matters.

The real test is whether 250€ removes the one detail on a profile that might make a recruiter, client, or partner hesitate before clicking through. Framed that way, the lower tier pays for itself the first time it changes one person’s mind.

A note on frequency

A LinkedIn headshot is not a lifetime purchase. A significant haircut, a beard grown or shaved, a noticeable weight change, or simply three or four years passing are all reasons to update. Treating it as a one-time cost misses the point. It sits closer to maintenance than to a single purchase.
