Why flash is the wrong tool here
Stage lighting at an award ceremony is designed for the room, not for a camera. Flash overrides it instantly, flattens the mood your lighting designer built, and produces images that look identical to every other ceremony ever photographed. Working without it demands wider apertures, higher ISO, and knowing where to stand before the room fills — but the results actually resemble the event, not a generic press-scrum snapshot.
Three frames per winner, and they are not interchangeable
Each recipient gets about ninety seconds on stage, no retake possible. Three frames matter and none of them substitute for another.

A photographer working without that list is guessing which brand exposure actually matters to the deal.
